Aeroexpress Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary

May 26, 2015

26.05.2015 — Moscow. On 17 May 2015, Aeroexpress celebrated its 10th anniversary. Since it was launched, the company has carried over 105,000,000 passengers. Aeroexpress is reviewing the achieved results and setting new major goals for itself.

During the first ten years of operation, the company managed to bring passenger transport services in Russia to a new level of quality, right up there with European standards. Aeroexpress policy focused on expanding the company’s carrying capacity along Moscow routes, introducing innovative technologies, and providing flexible fare options, which helped to mitigate transport issues and to make Moscow airports more accessible. After only ten years, the company has become a successful and distinguished brand, and the name for Aeroexpress trains is now a common noun in Russian (‘aeroexpresses’).

2014 was one of the most important years in the company’s development with over 19,700,000 passengers transported. Since putting the first train into operation, Aeroexpress has carried over 100,000,000 people, including passengers travelling along the Lobnya suburban route. Based on the results of 2014, the company’s share of the intermodal transport market of the Moscow Air Cluster (MAC) is 21.65%. In addition, Aeroexpress ordered the first double-deck train in Russia, which was constructed especially for the Moscow carrier by the Swiss company Stadler, and demonstrated it to media representatives.

The company has been regularly introducing new services, thus improving its service quality and travel safety. Aeroexpress has been actively developing e-commerce channels. The company currently has a wide distribution network of 800 sales offices in 80 regions of Russia. One can purchase Aeroexpress tickets quickly and trouble-free via the company’s or agents’ websites, the mobile app, or by using the Pay@Gate contactless feature, enabling passengers to pay fares immediately at the turnstiles using Visa payWave or MasterCard PayPass bank cards. Last year, Aeroexpress provided a high-speed Wi-Fi connection aboard all trains. In June 2014, Aeroexpress became the first Russian company certified for ISO 27001:2005, the international information security standard.

“From the very beginning, we have been setting rather ambitious goals for ourselves. Nonetheless, we have succeeded in implementing most of them”, says Alexey Krivoruchko, Aeroexpress’ CEO. “For ten years, we have helped to mitigate the traffic load on Moscow highways and have grown to become a successful and recognizable brand. It is also worth mentioning that, during these years, Aeroexpress has become an integral part of the Moscow transport chain. These ten years were the years for our company’s rapid growth, including with respect to the number of passengers, and also our internal competencies and opportunities. We hope that our next anniversary will be marked with new victories.”

Aeroexpress was established in 2005. During the first years of its operation, the company proved to be a leading provider of intermodal transport services in the Moscow region and became the only carrier for MAC’s passengers (Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo) and travellers along the Lobnya route.
