"Living history" on the way: a train with a theatrical performance in honor of Victory Day will depart from Belorussky railway Station
May 1, 2026
The event will be held as part of the Days of Historical and Cultural Heritage.
For the first time, as part of the Days of Historical and Cultural Heritage and on the eve of Victory Day, the Department of Cultural Heritage, Aeroexpress and the Moscow State Academic Theater Russian Song, under the leadership of Nadezhda Babkina of the Moscow Department of Culture, are organizing a unique patriotic event. For two days, on May 6 and 7, one of the carriages of the double–decker train will become the stage for a theatrical thematic performance dedicated to the heroism of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.
"The event will begin at the Belorussky Railway Station, which was a key strategic transport hub in Moscow during the war years. It was from here that trains with the Moscow militia were sent from the first days of the war, the song "Holy War" was played for the first time for the departing fighters, and the first train with victorious soldiers arrived here. About 100 people will be able to take part in the patriotic action," said Alexey Yemelyanov, head of the Moscow Department of Cultural Heritage.
Along the way, poems and songs from the war years will be played in the carriage, passengers will see fragments from the play "A. Tvardovsky "For the sake of life on earth! Vasily Terkin" performed by the artists of the Russian Song Theater.
"On May 6 and 7, the Aeroexpress train moving from Belorussky railway Station to Sheremetyevo Airport will turn into a real "memory train", and a 46-minute dramatic performance will allow our passengers to feel the connection of generations and the strength of the spirit of the fearless and resilient Vasily Terkin. The carriage of the double-decker Aeroexpress train will become an improvised stage where 15 artists will perform. This is the first time such an event will be held on our train," said Andrey Akimov, CEO of Aeroexpress.
"We give you the opportunity to touch the atmosphere of the play "For the sake of life on earth. Vasily Terkin" to those who, for various reasons, could not come to the Main Stage of the Russian Song Theater. We transfer this atmosphere right into the carriage: on the way to the airport, Aeroexpress passengers will become spectators. There is no stage, no footlights, no familiar theatrical distance.… But the most important thing remains — the living connection of times and deep respect for the feat," said Nadezhda Babkina, People's Artist of Russia, artistic Director of the Russian Song Theater.
Also, all participants of the event will receive a thematic issue of the Moscow Heritage magazine dedicated to the Great Victory.
Participation in the event is free, and you can register for it on the Discover Moscow portal.
