35% of Russians plan to leave for the May holidays – Aeroexpress survey results

Aeroexpress conducted a survey among men and women from 15 major Russian cities on recreation during the May holidays.
According to the results of the survey, 35% of respondents plan to leave for the May weekend. The main vacation options are trips to nature and trips around Russia and abroad. At the same time, 21% of respondents will work on holidays, and 44% of the survey participants decided to stay at home in May this year.
The majority of respondents, 39%, noted that the May holidays are enough for them to relax. 29% of the audience take extra time off during the holidays, and 32% of the respondents manage to get tired over a long weekend.
At the same time, 23% of respondents plan their trips spontaneously, and only 8.5% of respondents have already bought tickets.
16.2% of the audience travel on all May holidays, 15% of the survey participants each replied that 1-2 and 3-4 days are allocated for trips.
"Traditionally, the May holidays are a time of increased passenger traffic: last year, more than 310 thousand people used our trains and buses during this period. To avoid queues and unnecessary waiting on the way, we recommend planning trips in advance. Tickets for our May flights are already available in the mobile application and on the company's website," said Vera Agafonova, Head of Aeroexpress' press service.
The survey was conducted on an online platform in March 2026. 1,124 people from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Perm, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Ufa and Chelyabinsk answered the questionnaire. The age of the respondents is from 18 to 55 years.
