Aeroexpress passenger traffic increased by 20% during the days of record snowfall in Moscow
Jan 30, 2026
During the days of record snowfall in Moscow and the Moscow region, from the evening of January 26 to January 29, Aeroexpress trains and express buses transported about 112,000 people. This is 20% more than during the same period last week.
Trains transported 71,000 people to and from Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo airports. Express buses transported almost 41,000 passengers.
The peak days for train and bus traffic were January 28 and 29. Trains transported 19,500 and 21,300 passengers, respectively, on these days, while express buses transported 11,000 passengers each.
During the bad weather in the Moscow region, trains and express buses ran to Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo airports according to schedule.
Since Monday evening, when the snowfall began, the company has been operating a 24-hour operational headquarters that controls the schedule of trains and express buses and the cleaning of infrastructure. At the final destinations of the trains, teams have been reinforced to clear the sliding doors of ice and snow, and passenger platforms, bus stops, and surfaces have been cleared and treated with anti-slip materials. The tracks have been cleared of snow to prevent delays in the departure of trains from the depots.
It should be noted that Aeroexpress takes the necessary measures to ensure uninterrupted traffic and comfortable travel, regardless of the weather. Every year, before the winter season, the company carries out planned preparation of rolling stock and terminals for operation in conditions of low temperatures and heavy precipitation. During the entire cold period, the current collectors of electric trains are treated with anti-icing lubricant.
Trains and passenger terminals are regularly cleaned, and climate systems maintain a comfortable temperature. The terminals have cafes and shops where you can buy hot drinks. They are also offered by Aeroexpress employees during the trip.
You can find up-to-date information about the train schedule on the aeroexpress.ru website and in the Aeroexpress mobile app, as well as by calling the hotline number 8-800-700-33-77 (for calls from Russian regions and mobile phones) and 8-495-663-84-10 (for calls from Moscow), or by contacting the company's representatives at the terminals.
