"We are seeing a growing popularity of Russia's biometric payment system, so we've added another mode of transport to it. The service is now operational on all Aeroexpress train routes. Over 320,000 users are already registered in the system, with more than 60 million passes completed. We expect around 500,000 users by the end of the year. The service features banking-level security, ensuring that unauthorized access is impossible. Other payment methods will continue to be available, giving passengers the freedom to choose. We are committed to expanding the use of domestic digital technologies in urban transport as directed by Moscow Mayor S. Sobyanin," said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.
In January of this year, biometric payment was launched on the route to Sheremetyevo Airport. Now, this advanced service is available on all Aeroexpress rail routes. "Biometric payment is particularly convenient for air travelers—it eliminates the need to purchase tickets in advance or online, and there's no need to touch anything at the turnstile if your hands are occupied with luggage," explained Aeroexpress General Director Andrey Akimov.
To use the service, passengers need to link their biometric data, bank card details, and Troika card in their personal account on the Moscow Metro app. Those already using the service for metro and MCC travel do not need to re-register.
To pass through the turnstiles at the airport, passengers should stand in front of the designated turnstile and look at the camera installed on it. After identification, the fare for the "Standard" tariff will be automatically charged to the bank card, and the turnstile doors will open.
Biometric payment on the Domodedovo and Vnukovo routes is available for travel from/to Paveletsky Station to/from Domodedovo Airport, and from/to Kievsky Station to/from Vnukovo Airport.
