Two turnstiles in the railway terminals in the Northern and Southern terminal complexes of Sheremetyevo Airport have been connected to biometrics - they are marked with special stickers.
To use the contactless payment service, you need to link your biometric data, bank card details and Troika in your personal user account in the Moscow Metro application. Passengers who already use the service for travel on the metro and the Moscow Central Circle do not need to register again.
When passing through the turnstiles at the airport, you must stop in front of the corresponding turnstile and look into the camera located on it. After identifying the passenger, funds will be debited from the bank card at the Standard rate and the turnstile doors will open automatically. Until February 16, passengers will receive a 50 ruble discount when paying using biometrics. VTB Bank will handle payments using bank cards linked to biometrics.
“We continue to implement Russian digital technologies in public transport on behalf of Moscow Mayor S. Sobyanin. The Biometric Payment System has now been launched at Aeroexpress terminals at Sheremetyevo Airport. This is especially convenient for passengers with luggage — there is no need to put anything to the turnstile. If the service is popular, we will connect turnstiles at other Moscow airports. The system currently has over 300,000 registered users who have made over 46.5 million passes. It is important that other payment methods will also continue to work, the choice is always up to the passenger,” said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow Government for Transport.
“We are constantly working on developing payment methods to offer the most convenient option for every passenger. The biometric payment system is a modern, fast and secure service developed in Russia, which allows you to pay for your trip in a matter of seconds and not waste time buying a ticket at the box office or online. When traveling to the airport, such time savings are especially important,” said Aeroexpress CEO Andrey Akimov.
When traveling to/from Sheremetyevo Airport from/to MCD-1 stations, to pass through the turnstiles at the first diameter stations, you must apply the same bank card to the validator that is linked to the biometric payment service in the Moscow Metro app. You can download the app on the website mosmetro.ru/app.
