The division was created on the premises of the Ilyich Locomotive Depot on July 10, 2012. Thanks to the launch of the project, Aeroexpress became the first private suburban carrier in Russia to independently service the rolling stock it operates.
The total area of the depot is 56,000 sq. m, including tracks, the total area of the workshops is 12,000 sq. m. Before opening the division, the company carried out a major overhaul and large-scale reconstruction of the depot premises. During the reconstruction, a complete replacement of engineering systems and a comprehensive repair of crane equipment were carried out, the roof and glazing were replaced.
"Passenger safety and comfort are the key priorities of Aeroexpress. Thanks to the depot, we can quickly resolve all issues related to train maintenance, and if any deviations occur, eliminate them as soon as possible. About 180 depot employees monitor the technical and aesthetic condition of the rolling stock every day, and diagnostics and repairs are carried out using modern equipment, most of which is domestically produced," said Aeroexpress CEO Andrey Akimov.
Currently, the depot services more than 50 trains belonging to Aeroexpress and the Central Suburban Passenger Company. These are electric trains of the ESh2, ED4MKM-AERO, EG2Tv, EP2D and ED4M series, which transport passengers to Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo airports, on suburban routes and the MCD. Aeroexpress carries out 12 types of maintenance and repairs at the depot.
