Aeroexpress to Discuss Airport Transport Developments at SmartTRANSPORT Forum
Oct 15, 2021
The company will share its expertise in airport passenger transport and discuss the development of its route model during the roundtable "Rail Transport: A Look into the Future" at the International Innovative Passenger Transport Forum SmartTRANSPORT, which will be held in St. Petersburg from October 18-20.
Participants of the roundtable will learn about the company’s modern rolling stock: in 2017, Aeroexpress introduced Russia's first double-decker electric trains produced by the Swiss company Stadler. The trains are equipped with comfortable seats, luggage racks, power outlets, restrooms, Wi-Fi, changing tables with automatic UV disinfection, and an ultraviolet air disinfection system. They are fully accessible for passengers with reduced mobility. The double-decker trains can carry 20-25% more passengers compared to single-decker units.
The discussion will also cover the development of Aeroexpress' route network. To enhance passenger convenience, the company has introduced several additional stops where passengers can quickly transfer to the metro and MCC stations.
In addition to expanding the train network, an alternative express bus route was launched in 2019 from the metro station “Khovrino” to Sheremetyevo Airport. The buses run non-stop on a toll road and deliver passengers directly to the terminal entrances in just 20 minutes.
The International Innovative Passenger Transport Forum SmartTRANSPORT has been held since 2015 with support from the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation. Participants showcase specific solutions, innovative technologies, exchange experiences, and address current issues in transport infrastructure development. The event traditionally includes representatives from the Government of St. Petersburg, executive and legislative authorities of Russian Federation subjects, and professional associations.
At the roundtable "Rail Transport: A Look into the Future," industry professionals and government officials will discuss passenger demands for transport services and the role of rail transport in the development of agglomerations. Decisions made at the forum will help improve industry legislation and enhance the quality of services for passengers.
