Aeroexpress Reports Over Sixfold Increase in Passenger Traffic in June Compared to May and April
Jul 14, 2020
In the first month of summer, Aeroexpress transported 125,000 passengers.
The company has observed a positive trend in passenger traffic growth in June. During the month, 125,000 passengers used Aeroexpress trains, which is more than six times the average monthly figure of around 20,000 passengers in April and May due to the ongoing epidemiological situation.
This dynamic recovery in passenger traffic is supported both by the general easing of restrictions and a series of measures taken by the company in June.
Last month, Aeroexpress restored regular service schedules on all routes: from June 8, the usual 30-minute departure interval was reinstated on the Domodedovo route, and from June 15, services were resumed on the Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo routes.
Additionally, from June 15, Aeroexpress introduced a new attractive "Standard" fare for train journeys, with ticket prices reduced to 300 rubles from the previous 500 rubles. The "Business" fare has also been reduced from 1500 rubles to 800 rubles. Thus, traveling to the airport has become nearly twice as cost-effective.
“We aimed to offer passengers the most attractive proposition for airport transfers under the new conditions—affordable prices, a simple and understandable fare system, and enhanced onboard sanitary measures. In the first two weeks following the introduction of the new fare and the restoration of the schedule, we have observed a significant increase in passenger traffic, indicating the demand for a cost-effective, reliable, and safe airport transfer. We expect this positive trend to strengthen further in July, especially with the opening of Russian resorts,” noted Aline Bisembayeva, General Director of Aeroexpress.
The company continues to implement enhanced sanitary safety measures and strictly adheres to all regulations. Cleaning with disinfectants is carried out at least three times a day in rolling stock and passenger terminals. Double-decker trains are equipped with air disinfection systems. In single-decker trains, the air is disinfected with portable antibacterial lamps. Additionally, as the schedule has been restored and passenger flow increases, the company has further strengthened safety measures by introducing another effective disinfection method in June—cold fog treatment with disinfectants. Spacious train compartments also allow for maintaining necessary social distancing from other passengers. Thus, passengers can be assured of their safety when traveling on Aeroexpress.
