In 2020, Aeroexpress is celebrating its 15th anniversary since its founding. Over these years, Aeroexpress has transported more than 142 million passengers to Moscow's airports with comfort and punctuality, becoming an integral part of the modern transport system in Moscow. To mark this anniversary, Aeroexpress and the Moscow Metro have released a special series of Troika cards.
“It turns out that the company's 15th birthday falls in a challenging year, and this only motivates us to not rest on our laurels, to respond promptly to new challenges, and to continue developing our service. In the new conditions, safety and affordability are fundamental consumer demands and our absolute priorities. That’s why we have developed a new tariff strategy and, starting June 15, introduced a unified 'Standard' fare of 300 rubles, making travel to the airport more accessible for all passenger segments and keeping tariffs straightforward and clear. Today, Aeroexpress is indeed the most reliable way to get to the capital’s airports without delays, with comfort, safety, and at an affordable price,” said Aline Bisembayeva, General Director of Aeroexpress.
The limited Troika cards feature a unique Aeroexpress design with an anniversary slogan on the front. They can be purchased from ticket machines at metro stations within the Circle Line. A total of 10,000 cards have been issued. The Troika card can be used to pay for travel on the metro, city buses, suburban trains, and Aeroexpress services, as well as for various city services.
“The Moscow Metro regularly releases collectible Troika cards dedicated to important dates. Undoubtedly, one of these events is the anniversary of Aeroexpress, which has been swiftly and reliably transporting passengers to the capital’s major airports since 2005. We are confident that the new Troika cards will be appreciated by Muscovites who rely on Aeroexpress to catch their flights,” said Yulia Temnikova, Deputy Head of the Metro for Customer Service Development and Passenger Relations.
To recall, Aeroexpress began its passenger services to Sheremetyevo Airport, and later expanded to Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports. Over 15 years, Aeroexpress has made significant progress, including acquiring its own rolling stock and terminal at Sheremetyevo Airport, establishing its own locomotive crews, creating a Unified Dispatch Center, and setting up a modern depot at the Ilyich Locomotive Depot. Aeroexpress became the first private operator to independently maintain its own rolling stock. A major project was the development and supply of Stadler double-decker trains, produced according to Aeroexpress’s special technical specifications considering passenger transportation experience to airports. In 2019, the company launched a new project – express buses to Sheremetyevo Airport from the Khovrino metro station. A recent innovation includes extending the Aeroexpress route to Odintsovo and integrating it into the unified MCD-1 circle, providing passengers with the ability to travel directly and without transfers to Sheremetyevo Airport from the most convenient stations, including Savelovskaya, Testovskaya, Skolkovo, Odintsovo, and others.
