“The 2017 Confederations Cup partially promoted passenger flow during the summer months. Over 15,000 guests were carried by the company's trains during the days of this competition. That was a rehearsal before the 2018 World Football Championship. Aeroexpress has managed to ensure a proper level of services provided to football fans and volunteers”, said Aeroexpress’ COO Valery Fyodorov.
Domodedovo Airport maintains its status as the most demanded destination – 1.4 million people travelled along this Aeroexpress route, falling behind the previous year’s figure by 4%. The number of passengers carried between Belorussky Rail Terminal and Sheremetyevo Airport was virtually 1.3 million people, which is a 10% increase from the same period in 2016. About 700,000 travellers purchased Aeroexpress tickets to go to Vnukovo and back, making the result 1% higher this year.
Approximately 281,000 people benefited from the family fare during the summer of 2017, exceeding last year’s figures by 73%. It is noteworthy that this fare allows families of two adults, and no more than three children under 18, to travel on Aeroexpress trains with one ticket costing 950 RUB. This fare was introduced by the company in order to support parents with kids and to make their journey to the airport during the traditional period of summer holidays more affordable. In 2017, Aeroexpress adjusted the relevant age conditions, thereby enabling more young travellers to use this type of ticket.
Besides, over 8,000 passengers travelled with kids’ tickets during the summer months.
All along the period, Aeroexpress train services were provided in accordance with the timetable. No overloading or disruptions were recorded
