Aeroexpress Switches to Unified Business Process Management System Based on SAP S/4HANA
Aeroexpress, a Russian transport company, has begun work to create a unified business process management system. SAP S/4HANA will be used as its platform.
In the first phase of the project implementation, the system will cover key business processes related to finance, accounting, tax accounting, commodities and materials management, real estate, and commercial rent agreements.
Special attention will be paid to train repair and maintenance processes. The new double-deck Stadler train belonging to Aeroexpress is equipped with intellectual sensors, which will help to generate large amount of diagnostic data throughout travel. SAP S/4HANA will allow the company to benefit from information obtained to the full extent and to improve the operating efficiency of the company’s own repair and maintenance depot.
“Analysis of data received in real time will allow us to forecast the equipment’s operation, make passengers’ transportation even safer, and reduce rolling stock maintenance costs and expenses incurred due to its failure,” stated CEO of SAP CIS Pavel Gontarev.
Plans for the second phase, which will occur in autumn 2017, include the optimization of budgeting, business planning, and purchasing processes. Particular attention will be paid to the risk-oriented access control system (SAP Access Control). This should help in terms of avoiding the assignment of access rights to ERP systems, which can be misused or used in a fraudulent way. Another task is to automate review procedures related to regulations’ execution and the monitoring of the company’s business processes.
“To cope with the tasks that Aeroexpress faces, we require the most modern company management system, which takes international best practice into account. Nowadays, SAP is used by most transport companies around the world and is the software quality standard in the rail industry. We expect that the unified management system, based on SAP, will significantly increase transparency and improve the efficiency of the internal business process monitoring system,” commented Aeroexpress Chief Operating Officer Valery Fyodorov.
This project is scheduled to be put into operation in 3Q2017.
