Rail transport in Russia is a traditionally conservative business sector. However, Aeroexpress has selected a bright, emotive, and friendly visual style for its new brand. The design of ticket offices, passenger navigation elements, and employee uniforms, as well as the bright design of the re-equipped rolling stock were demonstrated to those attending the presentation. Guests paid particular attention to the significantly modernised train carriage interiors. New Czech Borcad passenger armchairs with folding armrests installed in carriages according to the 3+2 seating arrangement scheme allowed for a 30% increase in the number of seats.
Aeroexpress Launches REX: Regional Express Project

On 3 October 2011, Aeroexpess launched the first REX: Regional Express trains. REX is a new brand created by the company for the provision of suburban and interregional passenger transport services. Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, and Vladimir Yakunin, President of OAO Russian Railways, attended the event.
Having inspected the renewed train, Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, noted that it differed significantly from other electric trains. “It is really great that new modernised trains will now be in service across suburban routes. We understand that we need to upgrade the entire rolling stock”, the mayor said. He also expressed his hope that carriages servicing other routes would also be modernised in the nearest future. “I would like to thank you for your consistent and diligent work aimed at improving the suburban rail transportation sector, a very important most promising sector for rail transport”, stated the mayor of Moscow, addressing the management of Russian Railways and Aeroexpress.
Vladimir Yakunin, President of OAO Russian Railways, emphasised the importance of the new project for the task of improving suburban rail services and increasing their quality. "The partnership between the Moscow and regional governments, OAO Russian Railways, and private investors has resulted in the launch of new trains. Such projects need to be supported by the regional authorities", said Mr Yakunin.
“The REX: Regional Express project sets the new quality standard for passenger rail transportation services across suburban and interregional routes. We are confident that more such convenient and comfortable trains, as well as excellent quality service, will be in high demand among our passengers”, said Alexei Krivoruchko, Chief Executive Officer of OOO Aeroexpress.
