During the World Cup, Mikhail Kovalsky served as the Acting CEO of Aeroexpress. At that time, safety and security measures were enhanced at all Aeroexpress terminals and on board the trains. The company hired more inspecting personnel, installed additional equipment (including metal detecting frames, introscopes, etc.), arranged for security guards and police to work aboard trains along all routes, and carried out train inspections at the terminal stops after passengers got off the trains.
Additional ticket offices were also opened to provide services to foreign and Russian football fans and special FIFA-styled navigation assistance was made available at the terminals.
During the 2018 World Cup, the company transported over 1.5 million passengers. All Aeroexpress services worked duly and properly, i.e. trains were running according to the timetable, the company attendants at the terminals successfully provided passengers (including foreign fans) with all the necessary services, and both automatic and electronic sales channels functioned without failure.
