25,000 Football Fans Ride Aeroexpress for Free during First Week of World Cup

Jun 22, 2018

Nearly 25,000 football fans attending matches in Moscow travelled via Aeroexpress for free during the first week of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

A total of 4,000 people – the highest number of daily visitors to the games in Russia’s capital – was recorded on 18 June.

To date, over 42,000 people have enjoyed free travel on Aeroexpress trains. More than 14,000 of them are volunteers and approximately 3,000 travellers are people listed by FIFA and unaccredited journalists. Since May, they have all benefitted from the company’s free train services.

It is noteworthy that, starting from early June, over 800,000 passengers have chosen to use Aeroexpress services. Since the World Cup started, daily passenger flow has increased by 20% on average, compared to the same period last year.

Recall that Aeroexpress trains will run until 03:00am on the days when evening games are held in Moscow, i.e. on the nights of June 27-28, July 3-4, and July 11-12.
