Aeroexpress Ready for 2018 FIFA World Cup

Jun 8, 2018

The company has finished making preparations ahead of operations during the period of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Aeroexpress infrastructure and rolling stock are completely ready to welcome guests for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Aeroexpress terminals have been equipped with special navigational elements corresponding to FIFA’s visual style and guiding passengers to special passing zones for football fans and persons entitled to free rides. This will enable the effective distribution of passenger flows and also avoid queueing.

Extra ticket offices were opened at each terminal in order to serve foreign and Russian fans. All Aeroexpress specialists have received additional training to work under conditions with an increased number of travelers. They also learned necessary procedures for providing services to customer groups visiting the 2018 FIFA World Cup. All ticket sales via automatic systems will be operating in full mode.

To ensure passengers’ safety and security, more employees have been commissioned to carry out examinations and additional equipment (i.e. door frame metal detectors, x-ray introscopes, etc.) has been installed. Security guards, together with police, will work aboard all trains along all routes and will also inspect the rolling stock at the terminal stations after passengers leave the train.

“Aeroexpress is in full readiness to operate under the conditions of increased passenger flow during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. We expect to transport an estimated 1.2 million passengers during this period and, given this, have involved all possible resources to ensure football fans and guests to the World Cup comfortable, safe and secure transfer between the city and the airports,” states Valery Fyodorov, COO of Aeroexpress.

On the days there are night matches in Moscow, Aeroexpress has added extra train services along all three routes. Therefore, on the nights of 27-28 June, 3-4 July, and 11-12 July, Aeroexpress trains will run until 3 o’clock in the morning.

On 14 June, the day of the first game, fans arriving at Sheremetyevo Airport will be met at the Aeroexpress terminal, where they can enjoy cheerleader performances and face painting artists.
