Aeroexpress and St. Petersburg Government Sign Aeroexpress Launch Letter of Intent

May 24, 2018

Aeroexpress and the government of St. Petersburg have signed a letter of intent to implement the project for developing and operating a railway link between Pulkovo Airport and the Vitebsky Rail Terminal.

The letter was signed by Aeroexpress Chief Operating Officer Valery Fyodorov and St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko at the 2018 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The project to create the Aeroexpress line between Pulkovo Airport and the Vitebsky Rail Terminal on the territory of Russia’s northern capital is going to be implemented via a public-private partnership. The expected cost of the project is 18.8 billion roubles. Private investment will amount to at least 8.8 billion roubles. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2022.

The number of passengers travelling via Pulkovo is actively increasing, having risen by 21.6% in 2017. The construction of the Aeroexpress link will accompany the development of the airport, which, as of today, can only be accessed by public or personal transport. Aeroexpress will provide St. Petersburg residents and visitors with a convenient and reliable transfer option to quickly reach the city or airport.

“We are happy to make this first step on the path towards developing a modern Aeroexpress link in St. Petersburg. We aim to create not simply a railway line, but the entire infrastructure, to satisfy the needs and demands of all passengers, including socially disadvantaged people. I am confident that, in cooperation with the city administration, we will successfully develop a transport and logistics hub that will meet world standards and make St. Petersburg even more attractive to its residents and visitors,” said Valery Fyodorov, COO of Aeroexpress.
