Aeroexpress Sums Up 2017 Operating Results

Feb 20, 2018

In 2017, 11.66 million people used Aeroexpress services, which is 0.6% more than in 2017, when the company transported a total of 11.60 million passengers. The company holds 13.2% of the Moscow Air Cluster’s intermodal transportation market.

As for the year earlier, the Domodedovo route remains the most in-demand direction among travellers. Aeroexpress carried 4.74 million people between Paveletsky Rail Terminal and Domodedovo Airport, with this number amounting to five million in 2016. The Sheremetyevo link was used by 4.70 million people, compared to 4.40 million last year. In 2017, Aeroexpress trains handled 2.23 million passengers along the Vnukovo route whereas in 2016 this number amounted to 2.20 million people. Alongside that, Aeroexpress provided free transportation to 583,000 people.

“In 2017, Aeroexpress managed to stabilise its performance and keep passenger flow at the same level. Factors that helped maintain the volume of passenger traffic in 2017 include the gradual recovery in demand on the travel services market, an upsurge in the number of passengers handled by Moscow airports, increased travel during the Confederations Cup, putting new Stadler-made double-deck trains into operation, and adding train services on the Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo routes,” said Aeroexpress’ COO Valery Fyodorov.

In October 2017, Aeroexpress commenced operating its unique double-deck rolling stock. This event was a milestone in the process of preparing for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Double-deck vehicles run along the Kievsky Rail Terminal-Vnukovo Airport and Paveletsky Rail Terminal-Domodedovo Airport routes. As part of preparations for the main sports event that will take place this year, the company has already finished constructing its new platform at Domodedovo Airport. Currently, Aeroexpress is building the second platform, renovating the one at Paveletsky Rail Terminal, and upgrading its Wi-Fi network. All these measures will ensure the highest level of comfort and safety to guests and participants of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Aeroexpress’ revenue for the reporting period amounted to 6,112.9 million roubles and saw year on year growth of 3.5%. The company’s net income in 2017 totalled 619.2 million roubles compared with 1,114 million in 2016. EBITDA came to 1,913.9 million roubles in 2017 compared to 2,333 million roubles in 2016. According to the 2017 operating results, the value of Aeroexpress’ net assets have increased by 12.3% from 5,022.5 million roubles to 5,641.7 million roubles.
