This outstrips the result for the same period in the previous year by 1.02%. The Domodedovo route continues to be the most popular one with Aeroexpress passengers. However, the total number of passengers travelling between Paveletsky Rail Terminal and Domodedovo Airport actually saw a 2% decline. At the same time, passenger flow along the Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo routes increased by 5.4% and 4.5% correspondingly compared to 1H2016.
"We are pleased with the fact that we have managed to recapture our passenger transportation level and start enhancing our results. This is partially due to the Confederations Cup being held here in Russia. Many football fans opted to use Aeroexpress services to travel from the airport to Moscow’s centre and back again. Besides, every year we are creating more and more new opportunities for our passengers, initiating partnership campaigns and programs, and improving on our service level. So we hope that such improvements prove that this is both a comfortable and convenient option for our passengers to travel with us and also that this is why they choose our company's train services again and again," said Valery Fyodorov, COO of Aeroexpress.
When purchasing Aeroexpress tickets, passengers expressed a preference for e-commerce options 1.3% more frequently than in the same period the previous year. Compared to 1H2016, the number of passengers purchasing tickets from Aeroexpress' own website or via the mobile app showed an increase this year by nearly ten thousand people.
