Aeroexpress Now Accepts Mir Cards

Jul 21, 2016

Travellers can now use cards from the Russian payment system to pay for Aeroexpress travel.

Starting from July 20, Aeroexpress passengers will be able to purchase tickets from ticket offices and TVMs using cards from the Mir national payment system. Primary transaction processing will be carried out by Gazprombank, the carrier’s acquirer bank.

“The Russian payment system is developing quite rapidly, and Aeroexpress is pleased to make a step towards accommodating Mir cardholders,” says Aeroexpress Chief Operating Officer Alexey Sorokin. “We have been strived to make the ticket payment process as easy and convenient as possible, which is why Aeroexpress updated its infrastructure to provide an option to pay fares with Mir cards.”

In addition, holders of such cards will soon be able to safely pay for their travel via the company’s website www.aeroexpress.ru or using the Aeroexpress mobile app and also obtain a 10% discount. As soon as cashless payments are available for national cards, the express carrier will surely offer their owners the opportunity to pay for trips directly at the turnstiles.

It is worth noting that the Mir national payment system was created to carry out transactions within Russia, independent of external factors. The first Mir cards were issued in December 2015.
