In May 2013, regular Aeroexpress services were launched in Kazan in preparation for the 27th World Summer Universiade. Travel time between the airport and the city centre is only 20 minutes. According to the regular timetable, 18 trains per day run on this route. Standard and business class tickets cost RUB200 and RUB400 correspondingly.
The passenger rolling stock operating in Kazan consists of Siemens-produced Desiro Rus trains, which have been specially localised for Russia and are called Lastochka (Swallow). Each Aeroexpress train offers 435 seats, eight of which are reserved for business class passengers.
