Sheremetyevo International Airport together with support from Aeroexpress held a fall spotting photography shoot by professionals and amateurs of aviation photography. Masters and beginners photographed planes, airport infrastructure and the Sheremetyevo terminal.

Mikhail Vasilenko, General Director of Sheremetyevo Airport, opened the spotting. He wished all participants good photos and an interesting day. Greeting the spotters, Vasilenko noted: “We’re happy to see you here in Sheremetyevo Airport. Today you have the unique opportunity to see how the airport works from within, to take photos of the life of the airport from the most interesting angles.”
The team of spotters was accompanied by employees from the aviation safety service and by the aerodrome service. The spotters took exclusive shots from unusual angles: from the closed area of the runway, the taxi way, and the parapets of the historical symbol of the airport – the “shot glass” pavilion. The spotters were given the unique opportunity to look into the heart of the “shot glass”, where the production-dispatcher service is located. The event participants watched how airport specialists directed planes, and saw various technological operations and the airport personnel’s work at the aerodrome.

Aeroexpress, which is a partner of Sheremetyevo Airport, organized a panorama shot of the aerodrome from the roof of the railway terminal. The participants also got to make beautiful photographs of the Southern Airport Complex and the aerodrome from the roof of the new Terminal E.
This year Sheremetyevo Airport held the spotting together with its general partner – GEO magazine (a travel magazine). Sheremetyevo and GEO organized a creative art-project entitled “SVO world with GEO” especially for the spotting participants.
A best photo competition was held in the following nominations:
• Panorama of the Southern Airport Complex
• Terminal E: “outside, inside, and from above” or “SVO idea”
• The Airport as an intersection of paths
• The Airport as a heart
• The Airport as an atmosphere
• The Airport as people
• Train. Passenger. Airplane.
The winning photographs will be published in GEO magazine and shown on stands in terminals of Sheremetyevo Airport. The contest results will be announced in the second half of October.
