Aeroexpress passenger traffic 73% up in Quarter 1

Apr 21, 2010

Aeroexpress, offering rail shuttle service between Moscow and the main city’s airports, improved its passenger traffic by 73% – to 1,857 thousand people – in January-March, 2010 against the same period last year. The company’s share in the total passenger traffic to/from the airports reached 19.3% (+4.5%) as of the end of Quarter 1.

A significant growth rate has been recorded on the Moscow – Sheremetyevo Airport line: over 571 thousand people have used the company’s service (+234%). Paveletsky Railway Station – Domodedovo Airport still remains the most demanded route (938 thousand people, +31%). Our high-speed trains have delivered almost 348 thousand passengers (+87%) to Vnukovo Airport and back.

In March, 2010, Aeroexpress served 664 thousand passengers, which is a 74% increase against March, 2009 and an 11% increase against February, 2010.

Active development of its direct and agency sales channels and implementation of modern information technologies in passenger service (“E-Ticket”) by the company have significantly boosted Aeroexpress’ passenger traffic.

The high quality of Aeroexpress’ city-airport-city rail service has got a high feedback score from its passengers. A short journey – 35 to 45 minutes depending on the route – on a comfortable train is always a pleasant start or end of a trip. Using the company’s service, passengers can thoroughly plan their trips and avoid being late for their flights because of traffic jams.

By developing an up-to-date transport infrastructure in the metropolis, easing the trunk roads and improving the environmental situation in Moscow, Aeroexpress is solving the urgent social issue, efficiently combining the three key components: speed, reliability and comfort.
