Aeroexpress increases passenger flow by 25% in October 2009

Nov 23, 2009

The passenger flow served by LLC Aeroexpress on lines between Moscow and its major airports, namely Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Sheremetyevo amounted to 705,000 in October 2009, increasing by 25%, year-on-year.

For instance, Aeroexpress carried over 188,000 (+98.6%) passengers on the Belorussky Railway Station – Sheremetyevo Airport line, around 126,000 (+31.2%) passengers on the Kievsky Railway Station – Vnukovo Airport line, and 391,000 (+4.2%) passengers on the Paveletsky Railway Station – Domodedovo Airport line.

The company’s share in total passenger transportation to airports has also increased from 16.5% to 19%. In October, 99.5% of trains came on time.

As Michail Kowalski, the LLC Aeroexpress commercial director, put it, “the performance we showed by November is a natural result of the work performed not only by Aeroexpress, but also by our partners in establishing intermodal transportation: RZD, Moscow Railway and the airports of Moscow, which is being conducted in economically unstable conditions.”

“We have carried out a number of joint campaigns aimed at improving the quality of passenger service for better train schedule, and increasing the number of rail cars making each train. We have replaced the old sofas with soft and comfortable seat units in the electric trains running to Domodedovo. We are currently aggressively introducing innovative technologies (ticket self-serving machines and mobile services), upgrading navigation in the airports, handling clients’ applications. We are also developing the network of agent sales offering combined transportation with airlines, as well as transport cards to corporate clients”, M. Kowalski said.

Aeroexpress has carried a total of over 15.5 million passengers within 18 months of operation.
