The Sheremetyevo International Airport arranged an unusual excursion called A Journey to Sheremetyevo – the Airport of the Future for the children of an orphan asylum and a boarding school from the Moscow Region on August 28, 2009.
The children were given a unique opportunity to see the airport from the apron, come close to the planes and landing strips. Not only did the excursion include a tour of famous buildings like the Olympic Terminal Sheremetyevo-2 and Ryumka (small liqueur glass), but also a visit to the new Terminals E and D. The children were also shown the Sheremetyevo business-aviation hangars and the work of unique scales for weighing small-size planes. The staff members of the Production – Control Service of Sheremetyevo showed it to the young visitors how the real time work on the distribution of the parking lots at the apron is performed. Following the introductory part of the tour the staff members of the service initiated the children into the Sheremetyevo dispatcher profession and presented each of them with a distinctive service badge.
The Journey to Sheremetyevo – the Airport of the Future ended with a festive dinner at the Pyaty Okean (Fifth Ocean) Sheremetyevo-2 restaurant overlooking the airfield.
