Today, on August 27, 2009, an Aeroexpress terminal was unveiled at the Belorussky Railway Station prior to the launch of train service between the Belorussky Railway Station and the Sheremetyevo International Airport.
The ceremony was attended by Vladimir Yakunin, the president of the OJSC Russian Railways; Alexander Shokhin, the president of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs; Peter Katsyv, the minister of transport of the Moscow Region Government; Maksim Liksutov, the LLC Aeroexpress general director; Vladimir Buryak, the deputy general director of the OJSC Sheremetyevo International Airport, as well as other officials.
M. Liksutov, the LLC Aeroexpress general director, said speaking at the ceremony: “Aeroexpress is joined by the OJSC Russian Railways in the implementation of an important social task delivering millions of passengers to the Moscow airports by means of comfortable railway transport. Today the company is making another step in this direction with the primary focus on the needs of the passengers; it provides quick, reliable and convenient means to travel to the Sheremetyevo Airport from the Belorussky Railway Station and back.”
A new Aeroexpress ticket sales record and automation system was presented during the ceremony. The system allows a passenger to buy an express train ticket via self-service ticket machines located in terminal halls at the Belorussky Railway Station and Sheremetyevo. The passenger using the system gets a paper ticket and an SMS message with a barcode to his/her phone, which can be further provided to a fare collector in the train. The latter can check the ticket scanning the barcode from the phone screen with a special scanner. The introduction of the new ticket sales record and automation system is a pilot project currently operational only on the Belorussky Railway Station – Sheremetyevo line. The service is planned for further introduction on other lines in the future.
The decision to open an Aeroexpress terminal at the Belorussky Railway Station for regular train service between the Belorussky Railway Station and Sheremetyevo Airport was taken in 2007 in compliance with the General Development Plan for the Moscow Railway Hub. The reconstruction of the station facilities to be further used as a terminal was launched in autumn/fall 2007. LLC Aeroexpress also built a railway terminal complex at the Sheremetyevo Airport and launched direct train service between the Savyolovsky Railway Station and the airport in 2008.
The new 547 square meter Aeroexpress terminal is located in the Belorussky Railway Station building. To enter the terminal one should go to entrance three or four. Inside the terminal, the passengers can buy tickets for an airline express, register their luggage and register for domestic flights from the Sheremetyevo Airport.
