Aeroexpress and Moscow Metro launches new Metro+ tariff

Aug 10, 2009

LLC Aeroexpress and SUE Moscow Metro jointly present a unique new Metro+ tariff for their customers enabling a passenger to buy an airline express ticket together with a ticket for one or two trips in the capital metro.

The new Metro+ tariff is available for passengers buying a one-way ticket for an airline express running on the following lines: the Vnukovo Airport – the Kievsky Railway Station, the Domodedovo Airport – the Paveletsky Railway Station, and the Sheremetyevo Airport – the Savyolovsky Railway Station. The tickets are sold by the Aeroexpress terminals’ ticket offices at the airports of the Moscow airline hub. The service includes one or two trips in the capital metro costing 22 and 44 rubles respectively (the price of the tickets acquired at the Moscow Metro ticket offices).

“For the metro it is the first experience of collaboration concerning delegation of rights for partial sale of tickets to a partner company,” said Dmitry Gayev, the Moscow Metro head. “The new joint service with Aeroexpress will increase the capacity of the main metro stations adjoining the major railway stations of Moscow and also cut the queues at the ticket offices at rush hours,” he stressed.

Maksim Liksutov, the LLC Aeroexpress general director, said in his turn: “The introduction of the new Metro+ tariff is another step towards expanding the variety of services provided for all lines connecting the airports with the capital center. The company has introduced a number of new economy tariffs (Family and Return Ticket in One Day) since March 2009, which have been used by a total of over 16,000 passengers. We thank the Moscow Metro leadership for the joint project and hope that the new service will enjoy at least equal demand by the Muscovites and the capital guests.”
