29 students from Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Tyumen, Novosibirsk, Vladivostok, Chelyabinsk, Adler, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Samara, and Rostov, arrived in Moscow city center using Aeroexpress trains.
Preparations for the event began inside the train where the first paper planes were constructed and launched. One of the contestants won an award in the nomination “The most accurate flight in the Aeroexpress train”. He managed to launch a plane that flew almost the whole car (about 20 meters) and precisely landed in the aisle between the seats.
At the official championship contestants will battle between each other in three categories – Range, Duration and Aerobatics. From each discipline only one will ascend to a podium.
Winners will advance to the next stage of the event, to the Paper Wings World Championship 2009 that will take place in early May in Austria.
On April 8 Aeroexpress will accompany all of the participants and winners to the airports, from where they will head back home.
