Aeroexpress Pays Over RUB 80,000 Due To Delay in Services Running Between Domodedovo Airport and Paveletsky Rail Terminal

Jun 24, 2013

24 June 2013, Moscow. - At 07:40 (Moscow time), alarm systems failed on the Moscow railway at the Aviatsyonnaya-Kosmos section. A total of eight trains departing both from Paveletsky Rail Terminal and Domodedovo Airport were delayed on each direction.

Aeroexpress has been continually notifying its passengers about all changes to the timetable and recommended that they check the time of Aeroexpress services before planning their trips. To reduce the interval between services Aeroexpress has put an additional train of 11 carriages into operation on the route.

Over RUB 80,000 was paid by Aeroexpress to passengers in compensation for this period of disruption, including Aeroexpress train tickets and air tickets. Nine Aeroexpress train tickets for the amount of RUB 4,000 were refunded. Aeroexpress voluntary committed itself to compensate the costs of air tickets to the passengers who were late to their flights due to the changes in the train timetable independent of the reasons that caused the failure. The total amount paid for air tickets exceeded RUB 76,000.

The refund policy has been valid within the company for several years. It offers a full refund of Aeroexpress tickets in the case that service is delayed for over 15 minutes. The schedule for the route between Domodedovo Airport and Paveletsky Rail Terminal has returned to normal as of 13:00 on 24 June 2013 and trains are now running in accordance with the timetable.
