Jun 18, 2013

18 June 2013, Moscow – The Aeroexpress mobile application has now been downloaded more than 95,000 times. This figure has been reached within just five months since launching the service in January 2013. The number of tickets purchased via the application in May 2013 was up 85% from January with more than 6.9 million purchases.

The Aeroexpress mobile application allows users to purchase tickets directly through their cell phones, while payments can be made with Visa and MasterCard bank cards, as well as from users’ mobile phone balance (available for clients using Beeline, Megafon, and MTS mobile network operators). And there is no need to print out the ticket – the turnstiles at Aeroexpress terminals are able to read the ticket’s QR-code directly from your phone or tablet screen. Moreover, the app also provides online access to timetables for flights arriving to/departing from the Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports, as well as the terminals’ layout and Aeroexpress trains’ timetable.

“We are constantly working to improve the Aeroexpress application to make it maximally user-friendly, taking into account all the comments and suggestions provided by our passengers”, commented Nadezhda Dorzhieva, Press Secretary for the Aeroexpress company. “Every month, we note a significant increase in the number of tickets purchased through our mobile app, which is proof of growing demand for the service”.

The latest version, which appeared in late April 2013, featured Passbook integration, a description of the selected rate, and an advanced bar-code reading system when passing through turnstiles, which was achieved by optimising the process of displaying and loading the ticket. Other improvements are as follows: The "My Tickets” section has been modified; the application’s functioning in offline mode and display boards for arrivals and departures have been stabilised; and the ability to change the phone number from which the payment should be made has been added.

The new version of the Aeroexpress mobile service should be released in July 2013.
