Aeroexpress Passenger Flow Increase in 1H2018
Jul 9, 2018
Since the beginning of 2018, Aeroexpress has transported 5.59 million passengers, amounting to an increase of 3.3% compared to the same period last year. Key positive drivers include improved passenger demand at Moscow airports, an influx of football fans arriving for the 2018 World Cup, and the new fares offered by the company.
The Sheremetyevo route appeared to be the one most in-demand among travellers, with 2.4 million passengers taking this route. This is equal to a 10.7% growth.
Passenger movement along the Vnukovo link grew to 1.1 million people, which is 9.9% higher than one year ago. In June, Aeroexpress put another Stadler double-decker train into operation along this route, meaning that it is thereby only serviced by double-decker rolling stock.
Since the start of the 2018 World Cup, Aeroexpress has carried 74,200 visitors to this event, including 44,100 people attending Moscow matches and 30,100 volunteers, FIFA-listed persons, and unaccredited journalists. Daily passenger demand during the days of the 2018 World Cup increased by 20% on average.
